Welcome to Colegio Jorge Washington’s Preschool!
We are an educational institution that is in continuous improvement and learning, with more than seven decades of experience, that firmly believes in the importance of early childhood as the main pillar in the harmonious development of the human being.
Guided by the Montessori philosophy and project-based learning (PBL) we offer the first preschool grade levels: Circle Time and Maternal. These grade levels are taught in their native language (Spanish) and children are exposed to significant, experiential, and multi-sensory experiences for the sake of developing the students’ dimensions and abilities. We focus on the development of self, the right to individuality, and growing at one’s rhythm determined by each child.
Afterwards, we begin the English language immersion. During Pre-Kinder and Kinder we initiate schooling preparation and academics with structured programs that are at the forefront of early childhood education. Our curriculum allows students to develop their individual potential and talents through interdisciplinary projects, and areas such as music,, literacy, physical education programs, dance, library class, technology, among others. Students can venture to innovate, discover, and learn every day.
Our early-childhood facility for 18 months – 5 year olds is located in Bocagrande within close proximity of residential neighborhoods.
“Do not educate our children for today’s world. This world will no longer exist when they grow up. We should give priority to helping the child to cultivate his powers of creation and adaptation”. – Maria Montessori

In the Maternal program, children are offered Montessori time, during which they work with materials from different areas in a free and autonomous way, encouraging their ability to make choices and decisions.
To ensure curricular consistency and alignment with the academic standards set by the school from preschool through 12th grade, we also apply an eclectic methodology that includes cross-curricular PBL (Project-Based Learning). This approach promotes methodological integration, fostering the development of autonomous students and innovative thinkers in a caring environment with positive discipline. Our goal is to nurture strong values and both intellectual and emotional intelligence.

Kinder offers a robust, structured academic program aligned with Elementary School. The bilingual English-Spanish immersion program is further strengthened at this level. Staying current with modern educational approaches, Kinder follows an eclectic model that includes cross-curricular Project-Based Learning (PBL), while maintaining a Montessori foundation in its preschool curriculum.
Students begin each day with one hour of Montessori time, where they work freely and independently with materials from various learning areas. Parents are invited to participate in this experience.
Kinder students follow the homeroom model, with each class led by a teacher and a co-teacher, both certified in education and experienced in early childhood development. This blended methodology promotes the integral and harmonious development of all areas of growth. The bilingual program is balanced and respectful, providing students with the confidence and skills to understand and follow instructions in both languages.
