Counseling

Our Counseling Team are dedicated to help students develop a sense of belonging in our community,  be insightful, relate well to others, solve problems in a positive way and give their best in academics.  They believe that to reach those goals it is important to work as a team with parents, teachers and administrators. 

Teachers and counselors work together to get to know well each student and,  therefore, better understand and guide them through their social and emotional needs and to develop their full potential in academics. This goal is achieved by conducting team meetings, following-up with academic results and setting individual or group  strategies to manage discipline, academic interventions and social-emotional needs.

Parent involvement is critical in the success of our programs.  We work closely with individual families, offer conferences that directly address the needs of each developmental stage, facilitate  workshops in which parents are able to better understand and respond to their children’s demands. When necessary, individual parent meetings are held to work together on strategies.

Teaching is also a core activity.  Depending on the section, counselors are assigned several class periods during the school year for sexual education, drug prevention, problem resolution, mindfulness, and tailor interventions for specific topics that will benefit a group in a particular moment. 

As a school that encourages respect, acceptance, compassion and  empathy, through an orientation program to welcome new students, the counselors are able to support new members of our community in adapting and to feel welcome.
